Introducing the Deadwood Resilience Pod

We’re excited to share that Deadwood has received a Resilience Pod, thanks to funding from the Oregon Department of Human Services' Resilience Hubs and Networks Grant Program. This Pod is a vital step in strengthening our community’s emergency readiness and mutual support.

The Deadwood Resilience Pod is a secure, community-managed cache of emergency supplies and equipment—designed to support our area during outages, disasters, or times of isolation. It includes essentials like generators, radios, water filtration, MREs (meals ready to eat), first aid supplies, and communication tools.

How It Works

The pod operates on a tiered access system:

  • Tier 1: Our trained Core Safety Team manages the pod and leads activation during emergencies.
  • Tier 2: Support Volunteers assist with setup and distribution during more severe events.
  • Tier 3: The general community can access supplies during major emergencies when the pod is fully activated.

The pod is opened based on emergency severity—from brief power outages to major events like wildfires or earthquakes. Every activation is tracked and followed by a community debrief and restocking process.

Why It Matters

Deadwood is a remote, forested community that faces unique challenges during emergencies. The Resilience Pod enhances our ability to stay safe, connected, and self-reliant during difficult times. It reflects the power of grassroots preparedness and the generosity of volunteers who keep it running.
